Gånglåt from Gärdeby

A common Swedish walking tune, played as a processional at weddings and such. I have sweet memories of this tune from the days when Folklore Village was a one-room schoolhouse lit by candles.

Cathy, I used to play this tune with the Maine Country Dance Orchestra in the 70’s
and called it Rollstone Mountain Reel

Your sweet memories, combined with a sweet tune, come forth from your banjo with soulfulness.

I have a recording of the great fiddler Hjört Anders announcing this tune (in Swedish) as “Gärdebylåten, my own composition”.
